A 40-year-old man is alleged to have attacked his pregnant wife with a knife before ending his own life by jumping into a well in Ramdurg town. The deceased has been identified as Umesh Badiger.
According to initial reports, the couple had an argument over a trivial matter, during which the man allegedly stabbed his wife, causing serious injuries.
Soon after the assault, he is said to have leapt into a nearby well, where he died.
The injured woman was shifted to a hospital for treatment. Personnel from the fire and emergency services, along with police officials, reached the scene and recovered the body from the well.
A case has been registered at the Ramdurg Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
