The Indian Postal Department, together with the Gokak division and Gokak Municipal Corporation, has launched a door‑to‑door service delivering birth and death certificates to residents’ homes in Gokak, eliminating repeated trips to offices. Certificates are sent via Speed Post for a flat fee of Rs 100, which covers the document and delivery.
Residents can arrange the service either by contacting a postman directly or by submitting the prescribed application form. Once the request is logged, the certificate is dispatched through Speed Post and the applicant receives an SMS confirming the shipment.
Applicants must submit the required information or application and register for the service; once the certificate is prepared, it is mailed to the applicant’s home address via Speed Post.
The initiative, the first doorstep delivery of such certificates in Gokak, is intended to reduce citizens’ time and effort while bringing government services directly to their homes, and both the municipal corporation and the postal department urge widespread use.
