Former soldier Rudrappa Kundaragi, 67, and his 26‑year‑old daughter Shashikala were brutally stabbed to death with lethal weapons at the Gram Panchayat office in Aradi village, Kittoor taluk, Belagavi, while filing a property‑share application. The killings stemmed from a dispute with brothers Basappa and Sangappa over a 38‑gunta land parcel ordered by court to be divided equally.
The victims, residents of Dharwad, were identified as former soldier Rudrappa Kundaragi and his daughter Shashikala Kundaragi. A long‑standing quarrel existed between Rudrappa and his brothers Basappa Kundaragi and Sangappa Kundaragi over the ownership of a 38‑gunta property that the court had directed be shared equally among the three. Rudrappa had previously sold his portion of the land but continued to demand a share of the remaining area, provoking his brothers. The brothers, enraged, attacked the father‑daughter pair with deadly weapons inside the Panchayat office. The case has been registered under the jurisdiction of Kittoor police station.
In a separate incident, a newlywed couple was involved in a hit‑run accident in Tumakuru, resulting in two fatalities.
