In Khanapur of Belagavi district, the Hiremuna village panchayat office was set ablaze around midnight on Tuesday by unidentified miscreants, reducing the computers and important files inside to ash. The blaze also damaged the panchayat building. On Wednesday morning, locals spotted smoke, alerted staff and the incident came to light.
