A tragic incident took place in Athani town of Belagavi district, where a boy standing by the roadside was fatally struck by a North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) bus. The victim, identified as 10-year-old Sunil Bandargar, died on the spot. Sunil had been attending tuition near Galagali Hospital in Athani.
After his class, Sunil and his friends were standing by the roadside when a government bus traveling from Athani to Karwar approached them. While his friends managed to step back in time, Sunil was unable to do so and was hit by the bus. The negligence of the driver has angered local residents. The incident is being investigated by the Athani Police.
