During the Ganesha festival, the Belagavi Scooter and Motorcycle Mechanics Welfare Association has set up a free two‑wheeler repair service for devotees whose bikes break down at pandals across the city. Launched by social worker Ganesh Daddikar, the scheme runs until the festival ends, with 40 mechanics stationed at five key spots.
The assistance points are Channamma Circle, Vadgaon, Goaves Circle, Fort Road and Tilak Chowk, each with an official helpline number that devotees are urged to use instead of calling individual mechanics. A coordinated response system assigns the nearest available mechanic to each request, aiming to avoid confusion, cut delays and optimise manpower during the rush. The initiative is overseen by association president Vijaykumar Nimbargikar, vice‑president Raju Redekar, secretary Maruti Gurav, treasurer Mahesh Kakatikar and directors Vijay Shinde and Girish Naik (known as Pillu Mestry). Daddikar emphasized the community spirit, saying, “Your problem is our responsibility. Our mechanic brothers are always ready to serve Ganesha devotees,” and noted that the service is intended to let pilgrims continue their visits without disruption caused by vehicle trouble.
