Panic spread in Belagavi on Tuesday night following rumors of stone pelting between two groups at Ganachari Galli, allegedly resulting in injuries to two individuals.
However, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Rohan Jagadeesh clarified to reporters that no such incident occurred, and there was no tension in the area due to stone pelting.
He stated that the situation arose from a dispute over land designated for hall construction. During a survey, an altercation broke out between two groups, leading to one person sustaining an injury.
“Khade Bazaar police will register a case regarding the matter. The situation remains peaceful, and police personnel have been deployed near the disputed site,” he added.
