Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar is scheduled to chair a critical meeting at Suvarna Soudha in Belagavi on Monday, October 26, to resolve the ongoing dispute over sugarcane prices. The session will bring together farmer representatives and sugar millers to negotiate a fair resolution for the sector.
District Collector Mohammed Roshan reviewed logistical preparations during a coordination meeting attended by Police Commissioner Prakash Nikam, District Superintendent of Police K. Ramrajan, trainee IAS officer Rohit Singh, and Additional District Collector Vijaykumar Honakeri. The administration is prioritizing security, traffic management, and crowd control measures, with adequate police deployment planned for the large gathering. Additionally, meals are being arranged for the attendees, and LED screens will be installed near the venue to allow farmers waiting outside to follow the proceedings and decisions in real-time.
The meeting will feature four farmer representatives from each of the state’s 15 districts, alongside representatives from 81 sugar mills. District collectors, Members of Legislative Assembly, Members of Parliament, and Legislative Council members from the respective districts are also expected to participate. To ensure smooth coordination, District Collector Roshan has appointed 15 nodal officers, one for each district, to liaise with the local representatives.
