A court in Belagavi has sentenced a 22-year-old man to 37 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1.25 lakh in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
According to Kakati police, the accused, Rutesh Anil Bosale from Kangrali (BK) in Belagavi, committed the offence on June 1, 2025. Police said he allegedly lured a minor girl with the promise of sweets on the day school results were announced and took her to his vacant house, where the offence took place. He also allegedly threatened her if she reported the incident.
Police further stated that the accused repeated the offence later at his house during a school holiday. He was arrested on June 10, 2025. The verdict was delivered on March 6, 2026, by the District and Sessions Court Special Judge CM Pushpalatha in Belagavi, who awarded the prison sentence and imposed the fine.
