In a shocking development, police have arrested a government employee in connection with a case involving secret surveillance at the residence of a woman officer. The accused, identified as Vinod, allegedly planned the act out of professional jealousy and rivalry.
According to investigators, Vinod, who worked under the officer, joined hands with a group posing as journalists to damage her reputation. The group reportedly installed eight hidden cameras inside bulb holders in her house to secretly record private moments. The footage was allegedly meant to be used for blackmail and financial gain.
Police sources stated that the accused intended to use the extortion money for building a house. Vinod is also accused of encouraging the fake journalists to send anonymous letters and repeatedly harassing the officer.
Authorities are now examining Vinod’s mobile phone to trace his communication with the gang. With his arrest, the total number of people taken into custody in the case has risen to four. He has been presented before the court and sent to judicial custody.
Meanwhile, the court has denied bail to the three fake journalists arrested earlier in the case. Police said further investigations are underway to identify others involved in the privacy violation.
