The Belagavi district administration has issued an order making Aadhaar-based verification compulsory during the registration of land and property documents.
Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Mohammad Roshan has directed that Aadhaar authentication be followed for all property-related transactions. The move is aimed at confirming the identity of parties involved and curbing the use of forged identities and fraudulent dealings.
The decision follows recent instances in which fake identification documents, including those belonging to deceased individuals, were allegedly used for land transactions within the district.
A district administration release stated that cases involving fake identities, transfer of property using forged records, and unauthorised registration of government and public land have come to light. To prevent such malpractices, the order has been enforced, and strict legal action will be initiated against those who fail to comply.
