The City Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested a 29-year-old man on charges of allegedly selling heroin in Belagavi. The accused, identified as Javed Ilyas Bendigeri, a resident of Babalegalli in the Angol area, was apprehended near the open-air auditorium close to the Tilakwadi Vaccine Depot.
Acting on a tip-off, a CCB team led by PSI Manjunath G. Bhajantri conducted a raid and recovered 10.10 grams of heroin, packed in small sachets, worth ₹21,800. A mobile phone and ₹170 in cash were also seized from the accused.
According to police, the contraband was allegedly sourced from a woman known as Lakhadi Adda Akka from Mumbai. A case has been registered at the Tilakwadi police station under Section 21(b) of the NDPS Act against the accused and the alleged supplier. Further investigation is in progress. City Police Commissioner Bhushan Gulabrao Borase has commended the CCB team for the operation.
