A 56-year-old man from Belagavi district has been sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his wife.
The Fifth Additional District and Sessions Court found Annappa Appa Saba Khichadi of Mugalakhoda village guilty of killing his 50-year-old wife, Kallavva alias Kalavathi. It awarded him rigorous life imprisonment along with a fine of ₹25,000.
According to the prosecution, Khichadi suspected his wife of having relationships with other men and had been physically and mentally harassing her for nearly two years. On March 7, 2019, he assaulted her in a hut at Harugeri, leading to her death on March 11, 2019, while undergoing treatment at Miraj Hospital in Maharashtra.
Judge H.S. Manjunath delivered the verdict on Thursday. Circle Inspector N. Mahesh investigated the case, while public prosecutor I.M. Mathapathy represented the State.
