An attempted armed robbery at a jewellery shop in Belagavi district, Karnataka, was foiled after the shopkeeper bravely confronted the miscreants. Two men wearing helmets entered the store and tried to threaten him with what appeared to be a pistol. The entire incident, captured on CCTV, has now gone viral on social media.
Accused fled after shopkeeper raised alarm
According to police, the accused had covered their faces with helmets to avoid identification. Their plan was to rob gold and cash, but it failed when the shopkeeper showed presence of mind and shouted for help. Hearing his alarm, nearby people began gathering, which forced the duo to flee the spot empty-handed.
The video has sparked wide discussion online, with many praising the shopkeeper’s courage. Police confirmed that CCTV footage is being examined to identify the culprits and assured that arrests will follow soon. Belagavi Police have also appealed to citizens to report any suspicious activity promptly to help curb such crimes.
