The Belagavi Journalists’ Association held its annual ‘Pratibha Puraskar’ ceremony on Saturday, honouring 25 children of journalists for their excellence in SSLC, PUC, and other fields. The event, hosted at Shivakumar Sambaragimath Auditorium, S.G. Balekundri Institute of Technology, was celebrated with grandeur.
KLE Executive President Prabhakar Kore inaugurated the programme, stressing the challenging nature of journalism and the need to acknowledge the achievements of journalists’ children. “Children have always been my priority. I’m happy to be part of this event. Take care of your children and your health, journalists are an integral part of society,” he said.
Belagavi North MLA Abhay Patil lauded journalists for contributing to the city’s growth and promised to push forward a proposal for a dedicated journalists’ colony. MLA Asif (Raju) Sait encouraged the awardees to work hard for a bright future, citing the global success of Indians in top companies.
Mayor Mangesh Pawar, Deputy Mayor Vani Vilas Joshi, Belagavi City Police Commissioner Bhushan Borse, and Association President Vilas Joshi also addressed the gathering. The event included a cultural musical performance by the women members of Chukki Cultural Academy.
Office-bearers and members of the association, along with several journalists, were present to applaud and support the young achievers.
