The Belagavi Bar Association is preparing to celebrate its 150th anniversary, a landmark moment in its long-standing legal legacy. The commemorative event is tentatively slated for October 4, 2025.
In connection with the celebration, Member of Parliament Jagadish Shettar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Parliament House office in New Delhi and extended a formal invitation on behalf of the Bar Association. The Prime Minister was invited to attend the event as the Chief Guest.
With more than 20,000 legal professionals from across Karnataka expected to attend, along with judges from the High Court, the occasion is anticipated to be a major gathering of the legal community. The Prime Minister acknowledged the invitation, expressed his awareness of the event, and assured that he would attend, subject to his schedule.
During the meeting, MP Shettar also raised the issue of launching the “Vande Bharat Express” on the Belagavi–Bengaluru–Belagavi route. Although a notification for the train’s operation has already been released, Shettar requested the Prime Minister to inaugurate the service and accelerate its launch officially. The Prime Minister assured that the matter would be taken up with the Union Railway Minister for further action.
