After a 15-year delay, compensation will finally be disbursed for two land parcels acquired during the widening of Belagavi’s RPD College Road. The Belagavi City Corporation has confirmed to the Dharwad Bench of the Karnataka High Court that ₹1.84 crore will be paid to the affected landowners.
The Corporation assured the court that the compensation process would be completed within eight days. The road widening project involved land from three families, while one had already received compensation of nearly ₹1 crore, a contempt petition was filed over pending payments for the remaining two.
Earlier, the High Court had directed that acquisition and compensation be processed for the unresolved cases. Though approval was obtained from the Deputy Commissioner and municipal officials pursued the matter, delays persisted for over a month, eventually leading to legal proceedings.
With the High Court now actively monitoring the case, the long-pending compensation is finally being released, offering long-awaited relief to the impacted families.
