In a major action against drug trafficking, the Udyambag Police in Belagavi have seized 23.840 kg of ganja valued at ₹10.11 lakh and arrested three individuals. The operation was conducted near the AKP Factory in the industrial area, led by PI D.K. Patil.
The arrested accused have been identified as:
- Akash Dileep Dodmani, resident of Jaynagar, Machche
- Nikhil Gopal Somajiche, resident of Jaynagar, Machche
- Viresh Chandrayya Hiremath, resident of Jaynagar, Machche Village
During the raid, police recovered 23.840 kg of ganja worth ₹6.90 lakh, a Hyundai Verna car estimated at ₹3 lakh, and two mobile phones valued at ₹20,000. The case has been registered under Crime No. 110/2025 at Udyambag Police Station, under sections 8(c) and 20(b)(ii)(c) of the NDPS Act.
The crackdown was carried out under the guidance of the Belagavi City Police Commissioner and supervision of the DCPs (Law & Order and Crime), along with the ACP of Khade Bazaar Sub-Division. PI D.K. Patil and PSI Kiran Honkatti (L&O) led the operation, supported by CHCs R.S. Pujari, T.B. Kunchnur, CPCs Hanmant Y. Vibhuti, Anand Khot, Mahesh Wadeyar, and civilians Ramesh Akki and Mahadev Kashid.
Belagavi City Police reiterated their commitment to curbing narcotic activities and called on citizens to support efforts by reporting suspicious or illegal acts.
