In a tragic incident in Malagali village of Savadatti taluk, Belagavi district, a father and son lost their lives after drowning in an agricultural well.
The deceased have been identified as Basavaraj Kengeri (40) and his son Dhareppa Kengeri (14), residents of Muragoda village. The incident occurred when Basavaraj’s wife had gone to spray pesticides on their farmland. Meanwhile, Dhareppa and another boy, Bagappa Sannakki, went to fetch water from the agricultural well, where Bagappa slipped in.
Basavaraj rushed to rescue the children, but both he and Dhareppa drowned. Bagappa was successfully pulled out by nearby farm workers and is currently undergoing treatment in critical condition at the Bailhongal Government Hospital.
Murugoda police visited the scene and a case has been registered at the Murugoda police station.
