In a response to an RTI filed by Adv. Nitin Bolbandi, L&T, tasked with executing the Belagavi City Water Supply Project, has outlined the process followed for road restoration after completing pipeline and House Service Connection (HSC) works.
As per L&T’s reply, road restoration is initiated only after the completion of both pipeline laying and house service connections. The restoration is strictly confined to the trenches excavated for pipeline work, as per the contractual terms.
The process follows a two-stage method:
- First, a temporary restoration is done using appropriate materials and compaction.
- This is followed by permanent restoration using Asphalt, Cement Concrete (CC), or Interlock Pavers, depending on the type of existing road surface.
L&T noted that full restoration typically takes between 15 and 30 days. Meanwhile, the agency ensures debris is cleared and water compaction is maintained to minimize dust and inconvenience to the public.
It also stated that restoration has already commenced at several sites, with progress tracked through GPS-tagged photographic documentation.
Ongoing restoration is currently in progress in areas including Hanuman Nagar, Bhagya Nagar, Chidamber Nagar, Mahanthesh Nagar, Old PB Road, Shri Nagar, Chennamma Society, and Kanabaragi. Other locations will be addressed in phases based on priority.
The clarification comes amid rising public concern over the delays and condition of roads post pipeline installation across Belagavi.
