Rani Channamma University has been selected for the Emerging University Award by the National Geospatial Award-2025 selection committee of IIT Mumbai. The award will be conferred during the Open Source GIS Day, organized by the FOSSEE GIS project, on July 17 at the IIT Bombay Auditorium, Victor Prof. B. Nag Menezes Convention Centre.
Rani Channamma University Vice-Chancellor Prof. C.M. Thyagaraja will attend the ceremony to receive the prestigious recognition. This marks another proud moment for the university.
The selection committee unanimously voted in favour of Rani Channamma University, enabling its students and faculty, including those from affiliated colleges, to participate in various camps and initiatives under the FOSSEE GIS project.
Additionally, Prof. Bagade from the Department of Geography has been chosen for the National Geospatial Emerging Faculty Fellow Award.
This national-level honour brings numerous benefits from the FOSSEE GIS (NMEICT) project to the university and its affiliates, including internship opportunities.
The event will witness the presence of former ISRO Chairman Kiran Kumar and is jointly organized by IIT Bombay’s FOSSEE (GIS) project and the National Mission for Education through ICT (NMEICT), under the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
