“There are several demands regarding the division of the Belgaum district, and we too support the idea. However, the final decision lies with the government,” said District In-charge Minister Satish Jarkiholi on Tuesday.
Addressing the media, he noted, “People from Athani seek inclusion in Vijayapura, those from Ramdurga wish to join Bagalkot, and residents of Savadatti prefer Dharwad. Everyone has the right to voice their opinion.”
Taking a dig at the opposition, he added, “The BJP is now raising the issue of district division, but why didn’t they take a decision when they were in power?”
