Santosh Jarkiholi, son of BJP MLA and former minister Ramesh Jarkiholi, has been booked after a video surfaced showing him allegedly firing a gun into the air during a temple fair in Gokak. The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday during the Lakshmi Devi Temple festival in Gokak town of Belagavi district.
In the viral video, Santosh is seen amid a crowd, allegedly firing celebratory shots into the air. Following this, Gokak Town Police registered an FIR against him the same day, citing unlawful use of a firearm in a public event.
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara addressed the media on Sunday in Bengaluru, stating that the case is being handled seriously. “A complaint has been filed, and legal steps will be taken. The police will act independently without yielding to pressure. No one is above the law,” he said.
Officials noted that Santosh Jarkiholi is likely to be called in for questioning as part of the investigation.
