Interest-free loans amounting to ₹600 crore have been distributed to farmers through 156 agricultural cooperative societies in Athani and surrounding areas, said Athani MLA Lakshman Savadi.
He was speaking at the recent inauguration of the Karyogi Siddha Multipurpose Primary Rural Agricultural Cooperative Society at Kavalagudda village.
Urging farmers to repay cooperative society loans on time, Savadi emphasized that timely repayment supports the overall growth of rural cooperative institutions.
“Our taluk’s cooperative societies have shown 100% loan recovery thanks to the honesty of both farmers and staff. Under the leadership of Siddashree Amareshwar Maharaj, the newly formed Karyogi Siddha Gramin Sahakari Sangha has extended interest-free loans of ₹75,000 each to 150 farmers,” he added.
Dignitaries present at the event included Vinayak Bagadi, Shankar Waghmode, Babu Mendigeri, Hanamant Samboji, Mahadev Ullagaddi, Shankar Nandeshwar, Ravasaab Kaleli, A.B. Patil, Mahadev Mali, Devappa Managamve, Nijaguni Magadumma, and Appasaab Chougala.
MLA Raju Kage advised farmers to utilise the loans for productive purposes. “Amareshwar Maharaj has established this cooperative with the aim of supporting poor children’s education and empowering farmers,” he noted.
Addressing the gathering, Amareshwar Maharaj encouraged farmers to progress and contribute to the betterment of society.
