The Belagavi City Police have closed a complaint filed by local activist Bheemappa Gadad against the Chief Minister over an alleged attempt to slap a police officer during a Congress rally held in April.
The Station House Officer issued an official endorsement stating that any further action would depend on a formal complaint from the concerned officer, the purported victim.
Citing legal grounds, the SHO noted that the Chief Minister is a public servant under Articles 2 and 21 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). This status has also been upheld by the Supreme Court in the landmark case of Karunanidhi vs Union of India, the officer added.
