The Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO) Belagavi, in collaboration with the Food Safety & Drug Administration (FDA), organised a rally on Thursday to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
The event drew over 1,000 participants, including students and members of the public, who assembled at Rani Channamma Circle. The rally was flagged off by Belagavi City Police Commissioner Bhushan Gulabrao Borase, who also walked alongside participants until the rally concluded at the KLE Centenary Convention Center, where he delivered an encouraging address.
JITO Belagavi chairman Harshavardhan Inchal also joined the march. The event saw the presence of Deputy Drug Controller Nagaraj, Assistant Drug Controllers K. Mallikarjun, Raghuram N, and Manohar, along with Drug Inspector Renuprasad and Dayanand from the FDA, Belagavi.
Representing JITO Belagavi, event convenor and physician Dr. Devagouda Imagoudanavar, along with several members, participated in the initiative.
The rally received notable support from the Belgaum District Retailer and Wholesale Pharma Association and educational institutions like KLE University, Rani Chennamma College of Pharmacy, Maratha Mandal College of Pharmacy, Sagar College of Pharmacy, Shree Paramedical, and Bharatesh Nursing College, among others.
Participants actively raised slogans throughout the march to spread awareness. At the event’s close, JITO Belagavi chief secretary Abhay Adimani thanked everyone for their support and efforts in making the rally a success.
