Heavy rainfall on Wednesday led to the closure of three out of four key routes connecting Belagavi and Goa.
The routes via Khanapur, Jamboti, and Chorla were shut after stretches and bridges along them were submerged by rising river levels. Currently, only the Chandgad route remains accessible to vehicles.
Officials mentioned that the Khanapur and Jamboti routes may reopen within one to two days.
Karnataka has been experiencing intense rainfall over the past week.
On June 25, anticipating heavy showers, Belagavi Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan declared a holiday for anganwadis, and all government, aided, and private primary, high schools, and PU colleges in Belagavi and Khanapur taluks.
On June 26, a landslip at Marenahalli on the Shiradi Ghat stretch of NH-75 near Sakleshpur prompted Hassan Deputy Commissioner K.S. Lathakumari to divert traffic to alternate routes.
