Dr Prateek Joshi, an alumnus of KAHER’s Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Belagavi, tragically lost his life along with his entire family in the Air India crash that occurred shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad airport on Thursday. A final selfie of the smiling family has since gone viral.
Originally from Udaipur, Rajasthan, Joshi pursued his MBBS at JNMC between 2000 and 2005, and later completed his postgraduation in radiology from Kolar Medical College. After relocating to London in 2021, he was keen to have his family join him there for better educational and career opportunities.
He was accompanied by his wife Dr Komi, daughter Miraya (8), and twin sons Nakul and Pradyut (5), all of whom perished in the crash. The family had shared a joyful selfie with friends and relatives before boarding the ill-fated flight.
Remembering him, JNMC faculty described Joshi as a cheerful, diligent, and well-liked student. “It’s heartbreaking to see such a happy family gone in an instant,” said JNMC Principal Dr N S Mahantshetti. He added that Joshi had recently returned to Udaipur to take his family along, and that his wife had resigned from her job in preparation for the move.
