Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Satish Jarkiholi announced that out of 42 National Highway (NH) projects undertaken in Karnataka, 27 have been completed over the past two years. He also revealed that the Central Forest Department has yet to approve the widening of the Belagavi-Chorla State Highway.
Speaking at an interactive session organized by the Belagavi Print Media Association on Wednesday, Jarkiholi stated that all 27 completed NH projects have been handed over to the Central government, while 15 remain unfinished.
“I took charge of the Public Works Department with a long-term vision. The work of our department is visible and impactful, unlike some others. This visibility comes with great responsibility. The government has allocated funds for our department for two consecutive years, enabling us to develop roads and infrastructure,” he said.
Jarkiholi also noted that permission from the Central Forest Department is still awaited for the expansion of the Belagavi-Chorla State Highway.
