A major fire broke out at the Koganoli toll plaza on National Highway-48 in Karnataka’s Belagavi district on Thursday. The incident took place under the jurisdiction of the Nipani Police Station when a truck passing through the toll gate suddenly caught fire after its diesel tank exploded.
In a matter of moments, the flames spread rapidly, engulfing two cash collection cabins. Staff members immediately evacuated the premises, fleeing for safety. Eyewitnesses reported scenes of panic as thick plumes of smoke rose into the sky and people scrambled to move away from the fire.
Fire and emergency response teams arrived promptly and brought the blaze under control. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries have been reported.
