Chief Minister Siddaramaiah firmly stated that there is no question of him resigning over the recent incident in Belagavi. Addressing the issue during the Basava Jayanti event, he remarked that raising slogans in support of Pakistan amounts to treason. He emphasized that every Kannadiga has a responsibility to remember Basavanna, describing him as a key figure in the social reform movement who worked tirelessly to transform society.
Responding to media questions in Bengaluru on Wednesday regarding the controversy over allegedly raising his hand at a police officer in Belagavi, the CM asked, “Why should I resign over the Belagavi incident?”
In response to BJP leaders demanding his resignation, Siddaramaiah said, “Let the BJP say whatever they like and enjoy themselves. I will not resign. I have already said what I had to say and have no further comments.”
Supporting the CM’s stance, Minister H.C. Mahadevappa stated that the incident occurred during a Congress-organized event. Defending the CM, he said that if BJP workers wanted to protest, they should have done so separately instead of creating a disturbance. He maintained that Congress workers had not done anything wrong.
