Police have arrested the truck driver involved in the road accident with Karnataka Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar’s vehicle.
The driver has been identified as 65-year-old Madhukar Kondiram Somavanshi, a resident of Takrarwadi village in Indapur taluk, Pune district, Maharashtra.
The incident took place on January 14 near Ambadgatti village in Kittur taluk. Following the collision, the minister’s driver filed a hit-and-run complaint at the Kittur police station, stating that the truck had hit their vehicle and sped away.
Investigators collected crucial evidence from the scene, including fragments of paint from the truck, and sent them for forensic examination. Using CCTV footage and forensic inputs, police were able to track down the vehicle and apprehend the accused, confirmed District Superintendent of Police Bhimashankar Guled.
