A tragic incident unfolded at the city’s second depot on Wednesday, where a bus driver was discovered hanging inside his vehicle.
The deceased, Balachandra Shivappa Hukkoji (47), a resident of Old Gandhinagar, was operating a bus on the Shahapur Naka–Vadagaon route. He ended his life in the same bus during the early hours of Wednesday.
According to the family, Balachandra had applied for leave to attend his elder sister’s daughter’s wedding but was allegedly denied permission by the depot manager, which they believe led to his suicide.
This incident comes just two weeks after a similar case, where a mechanic took his own life inside a bus, reportedly due to harassment by senior officials.
