A man was beaten by locals in Belagavi on Sunday night after allegedly harassing a woman with repeated phone calls.
Somanath Ghodse, a resident of Shastri Nagar, had been bothering a salesgirl working at a retail mall, persistently pressuring her to enter a relationship despite her repeated refusals.
Even after her relatives warned her, Ghodse continued his advances. On Sunday night, he was spotted loitering near her residence. The woman confronted him and showed nearby residents and family members her call logs.
Angered by his continued harassment, the group assaulted Ghodse before a few elders intervened and rescued him. Police personnel from the APMC Station later arrived at the scene.
