The Karnataka Excise Department confiscated 670 liters of Goa-manufactured liquor, valued at Rs 7.30 lakh, from a vehicle on New Gadshed Road under the jurisdiction of Khadebazaar police station.
Officials apprehended 30-year-old Rakesh Chougule, a resident of New Gadshed Road, Belagavi, for allegedly transporting the illicit liquor.
The vehicle used in the smuggling operation was also seized. Authorities stated that the crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal liquor trade and enforce excise regulations. Investigations are continuing to determine the source and intended distribution of the seized consignment.
