A long-standing family feud turned deadly in Kalahal village, Ramdurg taluk, as a 45-year-old woman, Shekhavva Madar, was brutally attacked with an axe by Manjunath Madar, a fellow villager.
Years of Tension Lead to Tragedy
Hostility between the two families had simmered since 2018, forcing Shekhavva’s family to relocate to Kagadal in Savadatti taluk. Despite the move, she frequently returned to Kalahal to oversee their ancestral property.
Engagement Dispute Triggers Violence
The latest conflict erupted when Manjunath’s sister got engaged to a youth from Bagalkot. However, Shekhavva’s son allegedly messaged the groom, claiming to have a romantic relationship with the bride-to-be. This led to the engagement being called off, enraging Manjunath.
Daylight Murder Shocks Village
On the day of the attack, Shekhavva had come to Kalahal to collect ration supplies. Seizing the opportunity, Manjunath ambushed her, striking a fatal axe blow to her head.
Swift Police Action
Sureban police quickly arrested Manjunath and launched an investigation into the murder, ensuring that justice is served for the victim.
