A tragic road accident occurred in Madhya Pradesh on February 24, 2025, resulting in the deaths of six Maha Kumbh pilgrims from Gokak, Belagavi district. The incident took place around 5 a.m. near Khitala in Jabalpur, when their mini-bus overturned after hitting a road divider.
The victims have been identified as Balachandra Narayan Goudar (50), Basavaraj Shivappa Dodamani (49), and Virupax Channappa Gumati (61) from Gokak, Sunil Balakrishna Shedashale (45) from Hattaraki village, Basavaraj Nirupadappa Kurali (63) from Gomlegudi village, and Iranna Sharanappa Shibaratti (27) from Kamatagi village.
Two others were injured and are receiving medical treatment in the hospital. The group of eight had departed for Prayagraj on February 21 for the pilgrimage. Belagavi police are coordinating with their counterparts in Madhya Pradesh.
