Belagavi is set for a major infrastructure boost with ₹836.45 crore sanctioned under the Amrit 2.0 scheme for urban development and an additional ₹106 crore approved for road improvements.
Urban Development Under Amrit 2.0
Rajya Sabha MP Iranna Kadadi announced that the Union Urban Development Ministry has allocated ₹836.45 crore for 32 urban areas under the Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Board. The funds will be distributed in a 50:40:10 ratio—50% from the central government, 40% from the state government, and 10% from public contributions.
A significant ₹165 crore has been earmarked to ensure a continuous water supply for the twin towns of Mudalagi, Naganur, Kalloli, Arabhavi, and Ghataprabha. Several projects are already in progress, with others set to begin soon.
Major allocations include:
- Machhe, Peeranawadi – ₹85 crore
- Harugeri, Mugalakhod – ₹51.94 crore
- Kittur – ₹25.21 crore
- Athani – ₹47.67 crore
- Munavalli – ₹39.11 crore
- Ghataprabha, Kalloli, Naganur, Mudalagi – ₹165.44 crore
- Kagawada, Shebal, Ugara Khurda – ₹66.74 crore
- Nippani – ₹32.83 crore
MP Iranna Kadadi credited Union Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Karnataka State Urban Development Minister Bhairati Suresh for securing and implementing the funds.
Road Infrastructure Development in Belagavi
In a further boost, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has approved ₹106 crore for 18 projects aimed at re-asphalting and improving state highways and district roads in the Belagavi Lok Sabha constituency.
Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister Nitin Gadkari for their support in enhancing road connectivity.
Key road projects include:
- Jamboti-Rabakavi SH-54 – ₹4 crore for improvements from Akkatangerahala Cross to Madawala
- Jat – Jamboti SH-31 – ₹2 crore for Gokak RTO office to Malavinni Cross
- Re-asphalting of Raichur Bachi Road – ₹1 crore
- Re-asphalting of Vadagaon – Dhamane-Avacharatti Road – ₹4 crore
- NH-4 to Desura railway station approach road – ₹1 crore
Bridge constructions:
- Lolsur Bridge on Ghataprabha River – ₹40 crore
- Arabhavi-Challakeri Road Bridge over Mallaprabha River – ₹6 crore
- Gokak Savadatti SH-103 Bridge – ₹12 crore
These initiatives are set to significantly enhance urban infrastructure and road connectivity, driving economic growth in Belagavi.
