Khanapur Tahsildar Shridhar Gayakwad has been suspended by the government in connection with a case involving disproportionate assets. Lokayukta officials conducted raids on his residence in Belagavi and five other locations linked to him in Khanapur, Akkol, and Nippani on January 8, uncovering a significant amount of unaccounted properties.
Gayakwad has faced multiple complaints for purchasing properties illegally and even using intimidation tactics against property owners. Some of these complaints were lodged with the District Magistrate as well. Following these complaints, Lokayukta police carried out the raids, and a month later, the government decided to take action.
