The Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation (KUIDFC) has issued a public health warning, urging Belagavi residents to avoid consuming water from open wells and borewells. Laboratory tests have confirmed that the groundwater is non-potable and poses serious health risks.
Despite this advisory, many residents continue to rely on borewells and open well water for drinking. The Superintending Engineer of KUIDFC has emphasized that only the Municipal Corporation’s clean water supply should be used for drinking to prevent health issues.
Meanwhile, water supply in several areas of the city will be disrupted on Friday due to urgent pipeline repairs. Affected localities include Kali Ambrai, Khade Bazaar, Kirloskar Road, Jaya Nagar, Hanuman Nagar, and multiple other neighborhoods across Belagavi South and designated North zones. Residents are advised to plan accordingly until repairs are completed.
