A farmer’s family in Tarihal village, Belagavi district, was recently evicted from their home after failing to repay six installments of a housing loan. However, following the intervention of Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar, the family was resettled on January 24, 2025.
The eviction came after Aptus Value Housing, the home loan finance company, took legal action due to Ganapati Lohar’s failure to pay his loan installments for nearly six months. The company had secured a court order and seized the house, asking all occupants to vacate in the presence of police and legal personnel.
The family, including a lactating mother, was left homeless and took refuge under the stairs of a private building for several days.
On Friday, following the Minister’s intervention, the company opened the house and allowed the family to return. Lohar has been given a new deadline to repay the loan.
Minister Hebbalkar’s personal secretary, Mahantesh Hiremath, communicated with the company, urging them to restructure the repayment plan. Hiremath, along with others, met the family, providing them with financial help and essential groceries.
