The Karnataka State Games showcased exceptional talent on Wednesday, with athletes delivering standout performances across various disciplines. Belagavi’s women judokas stole the spotlight, with Sahana HR securing gold in the below 57kg category, Radhika Dukare in below 70kg, Parvati Ambali in below 78kg, and Triveni Kalkutagi in above 78kg. Bengaluru’s Harshitha S claimed the gold in the below 63kg category. In the men’s judo events, Belagavi’s Rohan BS triumphed in the below 90kg category. In comparison, Bengaluru’s S Ravi Chander and Avinash V won in the below 100kg and above 100kg categories, respectively.
Bengaluru swimmers dominated the aquatic events, with Surya Jhoyappa Odiyanda Rajesh clinching gold in the men’s 200m breaststroke, Dhyaan M in the men’s 200m backstroke, and Dhruva B in the men’s 800m freestyle. Among women, Namratha Shetty won the 800m freestyle, Pratheeksha N Shenoy from Dakshina Kannada took gold in the 200m breaststroke, and Tanmayi Dharmesh from Bengaluru excelled in the 200m backstroke.
In athletics, Bengaluru’s Shrinath Ganapat Dalavi and Vaibhav Maruti Patil emerged victorious in the men’s 400m and 1,500m events, respectively, while Yashas Gowda from Mandya secured gold in the men’s triple jump. Women’s athletics saw Megha Munavallimath from Hubballi win the 400m, Smitha DR from Hassan clinch the 1,500m, and Pavitra G from Udupi triumph in the triple jump. Dakshina Kannada athletes Sushma B and Amreen took top honors in discuss throw and hammer throw, respectively. At the same time, the 3000m steeplechase gold went to Nagaraj V Diwate (men) and Deeksha from Shivamogga (women).
Taekwondo saw stellar performances, with Vinayak D Mane from Belagavi (under 50kg men), Srushti Mahavir Mutaliksirdesai from Dharwad (under 44kg women), and PC Deepthi from Bengaluru (under 49kg women) winning gold. In badminton, Udupi’s Gilanish Ashley Pinto clinched gold in men’s singles, while Trivia from Mangaluru triumphed in the women’s singles.
Valedictory Today
The Karnataka State Games 2025, jointly organized by the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, the Karnataka Olympic Association, and the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district administrations, will conclude today at the Mahatma Gandhi District Stadium in Ajjarkad, Udupi. Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot will grace the event as chief guest, with MLA Yashpal A Suvarna presiding.
