District In-charge Minister Satish Jarkiholi has announced that more than two lakh Congress workers are expected to gather for the ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Sanvidhan’ convention on January 21 (Tuesday). The event, part of the Gandhi Bharat program, marks 100 years since Mahatma Gandhi presided over the Congress session in Belagavi in 1924. It will be held at the CpeD Ground on Club Road, Belagavi.
AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will attend the convention.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Jarkiholi confirmed that the programs, previously postponed, are now on schedule. The government event will begin with the unveiling of a Mahatma Gandhi statue at the Suvarna Vidhan Soudha premises at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, followed by the Congress-organized convention.
AICC General Secretary and State In-charge Randeep Surjewala will visit Belagavi and Chikkodi districts on Saturday to conduct preparatory meetings with local leaders. Surjewala will later tour other districts to oversee final arrangements for the convention.
