Indian tennis icon Sania Mirza inaugurated the Lokamanya Marathon 2025 in Belagavi on Sunday morning. Over 3,000 participants, spanning all age groups and hailing from India and abroad, joined the event.
Sania officially flagged off the 10 km, 5 km, and 3 km categories at 6:30 am from the CPEd Ground. She was joined by Lokamanya Society founder-president Kiran Thakur, Brigadier Joydeep Mukherjee of MLIRC, MLA Shashikala Jolle, former MLC Mahantesh Kavatagimath, and Malagouda Patil.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Sania expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the warm reception. “The love and respect I’ve received here is truly touching. I look forward to revisiting Belagavi and connecting more with its wonderful people,” she shared. She also offered fitness tips to inspire residents.
