In a surprising incident, Karnataka police constable Mudkappa Udagatti allegedly staged a suicide attempt by claiming to have consumed poison. However, medical tests later revealed no traces of harmful substances.
The Incident at the Police Station
The drama unfolded on Wednesday when Udagatti, who had just returned from a two-day leave, was reassigned to bandobast duty in Belagavi. Dissatisfied with the task, the constable reportedly staged a dramatic collapse at the station, claiming he had ingested poison.
He was immediately taken to a private hospital, where doctors found no evidence of poisoning. Udagatti was discharged the same evening. According to Police Commissioner Iada Martin Marbaniang, the incident followed a heated argument between Udagatti and the station house officer over his deployment.
Authorities are now probing the constable’s actions, which have sparked questions about his motives and potential internal issues within the department.
In a related development, Bengaluru recently witnessed the tragic death of a policeman on railway tracks near Baiyappanahalli, just days after a techie’s suicide shocked the city.
