Union Minister and senior BJP leader Prahlad Joshi has alleged that the Belagavi police had intended to stage a fake encounter to eliminate BJP MLC CT Ravi.
Speaking to the media in Bagalkot on Saturday, Joshi credited local journalists for exposing the alleged plan through real-time reporting and live updates, which he claimed ensured transparency and accountability.
According to Joshi, some reporters climbed onto police vehicles late at night to capture footage and broadcast live updates about Ravi’s arrest. Their efforts, he said, prevented any potential misconduct.
“The vigilance of local journalists played a crucial role. Without their timely intervention and live coverage, the possibility of a fake encounter by the police was very real,” Joshi asserted. He highlighted how the media’s presence and continuous updates served as a deterrent, compelling the police to act transparently.
The allegations have sparked significant attention, raising concerns about the actions of the Belagavi police. Joshi’s statement has added a contentious layer to the incident, prompting calls for a thorough investigation.
Amid rising political tensions in the region, opposition parties have demanded clarity and accountability regarding the claims and the circumstances surrounding Ravi’s arrest.
