A day after delivering a baby girl via C-section, a woman passed away at the district hospital (BIMS) on Sunday, with her family accusing the doctors of medical negligence.
The deceased, identified as Vaishali Kotabagi from Goudawada village in Hukkeri taluk, had initially been in stable condition after her delivery on Saturday. However, her condition reportedly deteriorated after she complained of chest pain early Sunday morning.
“Vaishali was admitted to the labor ward on Saturday and gave birth to a healthy baby girl through a C-section. She was fine until 7 am on Sunday when she started experiencing chest pain. Despite being rushed to the ICU, timely medical intervention could have saved her,” alleged Eravva, Vaishali’s mother-in-law.
BIMS director Dr. Ashok Kumar Shetty stated, “The patient was stable until Sunday morning. The duty doctors attended to her chest pain and did their best to save her, but she succumbed to heart-related complications.”
Following allegations from the family, Dr. Shetty has initiated an inquiry and assured disciplinary action against the doctors if any negligence is confirmed.
