A tragic incident unfolded at the Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS) District Hospital when a newborn girl, abandoned by her mother shortly after birth, passed away during treatment.
Bibijan Saddam Hussain Sayyed, a resident of Bailhongal, was admitted to BIMS on December 8 for delivery. She gave birth to a baby girl but left the hospital without notifying the medical staff or providing any care for the newborn.
The infant, who required immediate attention, succumbed while undergoing treatment at the facility.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) Rohan Jagadeesh stated that a case has been registered against Bibijan under Section 93 of the BNS Act. The APMC Police have taken up the investigation to determine further details about the abandonment.
This heartbreaking incident has drawn attention to the need for better awareness and support for maternal and infant care.
