According to NB Kale, the state coordinator of the Retired Government Employees’ Forum, the organization announced a protest in Belagavi on December 16 demanding the revision of retiree pay scales. In a press conference held in Haveri on Tuesday, Kale explained that the organization would petition the government to implement a new pay scale for employees who retired between July 1 and 31, 2024.
Kale pointed out that despite several efforts to engage with district legislators and ministers regarding revised orders for DCRG, commutation, and earned leave encashment calculations under the 7th Pay Commission, there had yet to be a positive response. As a result, they decided to organize the protest to draw attention to their cause.
Kale further explained that 26,423 employees who retired during this period were granted benefits under the 6th Pay Commission instead of the 7th, leading to financial losses ranging from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 22 lakh for employees in grades A to D. The protest, which will be a symbolic demonstration, is set to culminate with the submission of a petition to the Chief Minister. Kale urged retired employees and their families to join the protest in large numbers.
