Shirsha Vishwanath Savvaseri, a ninth-standard student from Balika Adarsh Vidyalaya in Belagavi, has been selected for the Hoysala and Keladi Channamma Bravery Award.
The award, presented by the Department of Women and Child Development, includes a cash prize of ₹10,000 and a citation.
Shirsha earned this recognition for her actions in August when she saved a woman in Belagavi who was attempting suicide. She noticed the woman and her children heading towards a railway track and intervened, seeking help from others to convince the woman to abandon her suicide attempt.
Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar appreciated the girl’s timely intervention and later felicitated her.
